New Orleans Photography

This is the home archive. Living here for 23+ years means the New Orleans Photography gallery is less a project than a running record: Mardi Gras Indians on a Super Sunday, shot with portable studio lighting to get that portrait-perfect look, and photography of so many second lines, brass bands, and the neighborhoods where the culture is actually handed down.

None of these images are shot from the outside as spectacle. Access in this city is earned slowly and spent carefully, and the images that matter are the ones made by people who were invited to be standing there.
