New Orleans is a city where music is an intricate part of the infrastructure. Marc Pagani's Music Photography and Musician Portraits run the gamut from the pit at festival scale and in world-renown theaters (like at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, The Saenger Theater, The Orpheum Theater, and VooDoo Fest), and from three feet away in rooms where the ceiling sweats.
New Orleans Live music photography means no second take and, usually, no control of the light: you learn a band's arrangement so you know when the horn player will step forward, and you shoot the crowd as often as the stage. Press and album work is the opposite — slow, built, and beautifully lit.
Deliverables for music photography and musician portraits are usually a same-night selection for socials and a full retouched set for press use, licensed for the run you actually need.
