Large Format Film Portraits

Large Format Film Photography with a 4x5 film camera is slow on purpose. The image lands upside down on ground glass, focus is a physical act, and each sheet of film costs real money — so nobody, including the photographer, gets to be careless.  Every moment of the large format, film photography session, whether in-studio or on-location, is carefully thought out and the entire process is VERY analog and requires a high level of skill on the photographer's part.

What comes back is a portrait made of usually two to four exposures instead of four hundred. The tonal range of a large sheet of film is simply not something a digital camera sensor can match and the experience of truly collaborating with a photographer is something that my clients rave about post – session.  

Sessions are booked as a dedicated sitting, delivered as high-resolution scans with optional old-school wet darkroom prints. This is a New Orleans Portrait Photography session experience that almost no other photographer in the city offers.
